Cruise to the Ford Motor Museum – Bailup

Another cruise to keep the spirits high, although the sky were overcast and threatening to rain nothing damped our spirits and we had a good turn out with approximately 22 cars. Meeting at the Midland Gate shopping centre car park it was an easy cruise up Toodyay road and despite half a dozen of us getting too far ahead and taking the wrong turning we all managed to get there in one piece.

Nobody was upset paying the measly $5.00 entry fee especially as the funds were going to a children's hospital appeal.

Once we got inside nobody could deny that we as a City, State and Country are blessed that there is such a wonderful collection of Ford vehicles – even though we are Chrysler devotees it is still a part of Australian motoring history that we can't deny and I am sure a lot of us have owned both Holdens and Fords.

The collection consists of 74 vehicles from 1913 to 2008 and all of them are on show.

With camera flashing and gasps of envy we moved amongst the collection and, it wasn't just the cars it was the amount of memorabilia that was hanging on the walls that took a lot of us back to our youth.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am sure that the thought in a lot of our minds was – "Why haven't we got a museum for Chryslers"?

The sad fact is we don't have a devoted museum here is WA, instead we are the custodians of our motoring history and another reason to keep the Club together and strong for the future.

"Look after your pride and joy and keep them on the road"!
