1970 VG Hardtop/Convertible

This is my 5th Valiant. I had my first a VG sedan from 1976 - 1978. Then a VJ Charger Sportsman (got to love those tartan seats) from 1978 - 1980. Next was a VF sedan (no photo), followed by a VJ Hardtop from 1982 - 1984. In 1984 I strayed from the Chrysler marque driving a 1967 MGB until 1990.

In 1990 I wanted a convertible with more room; I decided to modify a VG Hardtop. I purchased this one for $3000; it was yellow with a black vinyl roof. The interior was in excellent condition, the paint was a bit rough with some rust around the rear window, the 318 was smooth and reliable. Custom modifications did the chop, rails and respray. I drove it without a roof for five years; getting caught in heavy rain was a bit of a laugh. I wasn't happy with any of the soft tops I had seen, they didn't do justice to the original look of the hardtop. So, I made a bolt on/off hardtop using the roof from a wreck. I was happy with the result, it looks close to original, unfortunately, I wasn't able to retain the curved rear window.

Next project is to re install the air conditioner I sold the original one back in 1990 (Doh). Has any one got an under dash blower? I would prefer the longer slimline one with Chrome fittings not the boxy black one. My email is: geoffeasyrider@hotmail.com
